This text provides a thorough grounding in the concepts necessary for using cranial manipulation in practice. Cranial anatomy, physiology, movement, assessment, and treatment are all covered with great panache. The purpose is to provide the reader with the most up-to-date information on cranial manipulation and other concepts. This is mainly written for osteopaths and osteopathic students, athough chiropractors will find it of equal interest. The text is profusely illustrated with drawings that demonstrate cranial anatomy, such as musculature and nervous supply. Most of the therapeutic procedures are illustrated as well as described. There are two appendixes, one covering fundamentals of cranial manipulation and one covering manipulation in the infant. The text is organized to move from basic science concepts to clinical concepts, so that the material flows logically and is properly integrated. This is an excellent text that should appeal to anyone seeking modern information on cranial manipulation. It is practical, but has a good depth of coverage. It will have use within teaching laboratories for student practice, as well as within practices where the practitioner seeks in-depth information to aid his or her patient. Overall, it is well written and a fine addition to the few texts covering this topic area.
