Wicked Good Yoga
Wicked Good Yoga: When you meditate and do yoga, you will find that
you have less tension; it will allow you to be more open and present for
the people in your life, the work that you do and for the experiences
that you have. This class will help you experience your body moving on
breath in this rejuvenating and invigorating Baptiste inspired vinyasa
yoga flow. We will begin with pranayama, breathing in a powerful way to
anchor you in the present moment, connecting mind, body, and spirit.
Through a series of poses, linking breath to movement, you can modify or
amplify your experience based on where you are in your body. You will
sweat and release your body from resistance and tension throughout this
class. A brief guided visualization will end the session. Bring a yoga
mat and wear exercise clothes. You will want to drink water before class
and after class, and refrain from eating anything heavy an hour before
class. You will practice barefoot. This class is suited for beginners
and experienced practitioners.

Tai Ji and QiGong
Louis Pontillo
Tai Ji Chuan (Tai Chi Chuan) is an ancient Chinese martial art based on
the principles of yin and yang. It involves gentle movements and
exercises that stretch and tone the body, calm the emotions, and clarify
the mind. QiGong (Chi Kung) are exercises that follow the same
principles as Tai Ji, however the movements tend to be more simple and
repetitive, and often lack the martial arts component of Tai Ji Quan.
All movements performed during these exercises are done in a comfortable
range of motion, often in coordination with one’s breath, and almost
exclusively in a standing position. In addition to keeping the joints
open and the muscles loose, Tai Ji & QiGong are excellent tools for
improving balance and coordination for fall prevention.
3:45PM-4:45PM
The Benefits of Acupuncture
Louis Pontillo
Acupuncture is an ancient oriental system of health and healing. While
commonly referred to as acupuncture, this profound art actually
encompasses much, much more. Acupuncture itself is the insertion of
extremely thin needles into the patient’s skin at specific points and
areas of the body. The larger body of knowledge commonly referred to as
Oriental Medicine also involves bodywork (massage), moxibustion
(burning the herb “mugwort” on or near acupuncture points), chi kung
(energetic exercises), herbal therapy and more.
Louis practices an eclectic style of acupuncture that often begins and
ends with oriental bodywork. Feeling the pulse, palpation of the hara
(gentle abdominal massage) and of the energetic channels are diagnostic
methods used to gather more information about the state of the body.
Thin needles are meticulously inserted into specific points on the body,
often accompanied by gentle heat therapy. While Louis treats a wide
range of conditions, he has a great deal of experience treating
traumatic work and sports injuries such as fractures, strains and
sprains; and specializes in women’s health, particularly pre-menstrual
syndrome (PMS), irregular periods and, fertility issues.

Introduction to Juice Fasting
Melanie Burns
Fasting for health has been around for thousands of years, with many
cultures believing that fasting cleanses and detoxifies the body,
preventing disease. In Western religions traditions, fasting has been
used to purify the spirit or soul for thousands of years and is
mentioned throughout the Bible and other religious writings. In the East
fasting is commonly part of all major traditions and cultures. For the
active woman, sometimes it is just used for a day's rest for the
digestive system. In this class we will discuss the practicalities of
how to go about a juice fast, what to expect, and sample some prepared
recipes.
